The Sts. Peter and Paul School depends on the generosity of individuals and businesses in the community. For over one hundred years, we have proudly served the children of Wellston, Jackson, and Vinton County with love and respect, academic excellence and spiritual formation. We actively seek meaningful programs to help reinforce and strengthen these services and engage our students even more.

Any amount, big or small, will benefit our amazing school and wonderful students. God bless you and thank you for your generosity.

Current Project – Please help us!

    Outdoor Classroom

SPPS recently completed phase I of our outdoor classroom project. Upon completion, we have also become an official Monarch Waystation.

The dream began several years ago, but with limited funding it remained a dream until this summer. With a donation of $500 from General Mills, in June of 2015, Mrs. Wiseman, SPPS first and second grade teacher, and Mrs. Fulton, SPPS principal, along with several students began the first phase of the five phase project – Sts. Peter and Paul School Outdoor Classroom. Volunteers dug in the morning sun, removing and relocating the grass to another area or the school yard. Once the grass was removed, Joe and Sarah Valentine, an SPPS family, generously donated and delivered truckloads of soil.

Paving stones, donated by Sharon Lockard of Wellston, were added, along with “stepable” plants. Eventually these plants will spread throughout the surrounding pathway. Milkweed, butterfly bush and other plants known for attracting butterflies, hummingbirds and bees were planted, gravel and mulch spread, and pea gravel added to create enhanced, hands-on learning areas for students. With the final touches of a bee house, bird feeder, bird bath and a wooden bench, phase I of the project was complete.

Mrs. Wiseman received the official Monarch Waystation sign this week to display in the butterfly observation area of our outdoor classroom. With support from the community, donations from local area businesses and families, and grants from supporting foundations, Sts. Peter and Paul School hopes to complete all five phases of our project by the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year. Donations for our project are being accepted and are ALWAYS appreciated.

Financial Aid Donations

In 2014, over $20,000 was distributed to Sts. Peter and Paul School families through Diocesan aid, SPPS aid, and the EdChoice Expansion Scholarship. Sts. Peter and Paul School financial aid distributions to families in need decreased from $20,000 in 2013 to $10,000 in 2014-2015, and to $8,000 in 2015-2016.

With great efforts from our families, we are happy to announce that in 2016-2017, we are once again able to offer $10,000 of SPPS financial aid. Financial aid is awarded by the Sts. Peter and Paul School Finance Council based on the individual needs of families who submitted a financial aid application. Distributions of $10,000 will be divided among applicable families with the majority falling just above, at or below the State of Ohio Guidelines for Free and Reduced Lunch in grades 4-8.

The Diocese of Columbus will also award SPPS families with financial aid. Typically, $1500 in total aid is given each school year, with the distribution awarded to 3-5 families.

The EdChoice Expansion Scholarship covers the total cost of tuition for any Sts. Peter and Paul School families who’ve applied for the EdChoice Expansion Scholarship in grades K-3 and meet the financial guidelines set by the State of Ohio, Department of Education. This scholarship follows students through the 8th grade at SPPS.
